And finally..

Goodbye at the Gateway of India
Going home is getting uncomfortably close. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait to see you.  But this step is yet another adjustment (a big one!) to undertake. It can be overwhelming to think about – and I’m trying not to.

Here are the things that stress me out about going back to the U S of A:

  • Getting a new job
  • Buying a new car
  • Realizing my Jacky isn’t with us anymore
  • Thinking about getting a new computer…
  • Not having only one pair of Party Pants anymore, therefore having to put thought into what I wear to dinner/bars/birthday parties/friends’ houses
  • Telling the same story about 500 times when catching up with people
  • Boring people with my newfound love of monkeys
  • Having to decide what kind of wine I want – what do you mean it’s not just red or white? (Ok, this absolutely does NOT stress me out. This thrills me.)
  • Crossing the road without getting hit by a car – because I’m pretty sure walking into oncoming traffic in the States is dangerous, isn’t it?
  • Wearing pants with buttons on a regular basis

Goodbye, elastic waistband pants and mountains of rice.  Hello, America, with all your buttons and salads-as-meals.

Sigh. Oy. Am I ready for this?

But I must get back.  I have some babies to meet, some pets to snuggle, some toddlers to catch up with, and some adults to share bottles of wine with.

Ok, TK, chalo.

See you this weekend, USA.

PS. I finally found a Tiger.
